Blizzard stops county in its tracks

Blizzard stops county in its tracks

Only in North Dakota would you hear the words, “We could use a good blizzard.” After a dry summer and an open winter, people were ready for moisture in any form, and boy, they got it around the state. Officially, Ellendale got the most snow, 19 inches in a two day blizzard of heavy wet snow that covered most of the state. Most of the highest totals were reported in the south central part of North Dakota. Edgeley got 15, Ashley 14, Streeter 12, Kulm 12, and Wishek 10 inches. Bismarck had 10 inches.  There were unofficial reports of 20 inches in Forbes and east of Ashley, and with the Forbes Hills having isolated weather patterns all their own, that report was more than plausible.
