Horticulture enthusiasts took part in the annual Spring Fling, sponsored by the McIntosh County Extension Office on May 11 in Ashley.

Karen Bettenhausen, McIntosh County agenttalked about the importance of sun safety and everyone got to view their skin through the DermaScan machine.

Sheldon Gerhardt, Logan County extension agent, gave a live demonstration on pruning fruit and deciduous trees.

Gerhardt also presented a lesson on how to graft a new branch onto an existing tree. It can be done with any tree, but an exciting use would be to turn any tree into a fruit-bearing tree, with multiple varieties.
