There will be a decidedly Wishek flavor on the sidelines when Mandan faces Devils Lake on Thursday in the first round of the state Class A girls basketball tournament in Bismarck.

Mark Wiest, who graduated in 1990 from Wishek High School, is in his first year as athletic director at Mandan. Wiest is the son of Alice Wiest, Wishek, and the late Julius Wiest.

Justin Klein, a 2000 WHS grad, is the head girls basketball coach at Devils Lake. Klein is the son of Keith and Naomi Klein, Wishek.

The quarterfinal game between Mandan (18-6) and Devils Lake (11-14) is set for 5 p.m. Thursday. It will be carried in this area on KBMY Channel 17.
