County voters in step with statewide results

Voters in McIntosh County were largely in step with those across North Dakota during the Nov. 8 general election.

They joined in supporting Republican Donald Trump, who upset the favored Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, in the presidential race, and businessman Doug Burgum, who was an easy winner in the battle to succeed fellow Republican Jack Dalrymple as the state's governor.

Republican incumbents John Hoeven (U.S. Senate) and Kevin Cramer (U.S. House) won by wide margins across the state and were the choice of county voters as well.

Meanwhile, the local ballot was light, with most McIntosh County offices not up for election this year.

Perry Turner, Wishek, who currently serves as chairman of the County Commission, ran unopposed and won a new four-year term with 1,264 votes.
