Reward offered in Wishek cold case

Posted 9/21/16 (Wed)

The kristinjoydiede.com website and family members of Robert Michael Anderson are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who reports discovery of human remains that can be confirmed as belonging to Anderson or Diede.

Authorities say the couple disappeared from Wishek in 1993 under suspicious circumstances. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation considers Kristin Diede and Robert Anderson to be homicide victims.

More information about the case, and conditions of the reward, may be found at www.kristinjoydiede.com. Newspaper ads also are planned regarding the reward.

Diede and Anderson were last seen on their way to a farm, north of Wishek, during the late afternoon hours of Aug. 15, 1993.  A vehicle the couple had been driving was found abandoned a few days later in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

"We feel strongly that my father and Kristin Diede met their demise near Wishek on August 15, 1993," says Anderson's son, Chase, who now lives in Amery, Wisconsin.

"We're asking hunters, surveyors, farmers and others who enjoy the outdoors in any of the areas from Wishek to Aberdeen to keep an eye out for human remains, buried clothing, shallow graves, or any other suspicious-looking objects.

"If you see anything suspicious, please call your local sheriff’s office."

Kristin Diede was born ‘Valerie Goebel’ and was a Wishek High School graduate. At the time of her disappearance, she was living in Bloomington, Minnesota, with her two children.

Anderson and Diede traveled to Wishek from Minnesota and dropped Diede's children off at the farm to visit relatives for a few days. On Aug. 15, they stopped to speak with a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper and inquired about laws pertaining to child custody.

The couple told the trooper they intended to pick up the children that afternoon and return to Minnesota. They disappeared shortly after their meeting with the officer in Wishek, however, and were never heard from again.

No arrests have ever been made and no sightings of Anderson or Diede have been reported.
KristinJoyDiede.com is operated by Hebron-based Everything Midwestern LLC, in association with members of Anderson's family.

The site's stated mission is to bring understanding, closure and justice to the case.
