A Devils Lake native has been named the new pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek.
 
Rev. Kristen Schwan began her duties in June, succeeding Rev. Adam Roberts, who was reassigned last year to a church in Wisconsin.
 
Schwan attended United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, where she earned a Master of Divinity degree.
 
St. Luke is Schwan's first position west of the Red River Valley. She says she has been impressed with the church and with the Wishek community since her arrival here on June 1.
 
"I'm thrilled to have my new pastorship at a single church," she says. "I'm also excited by the dedication and commitment of the congregation, especially toward music.
