What a trooper

Wishek native Devin Olson is among the largest group of new South Dakota Highway Patrol officers in more than 40 years.

Olson, son of Doug and Carolyn Olson, Wishek, has been assigned to serve in the Britton, South Dakota, area.

Class 59 consisted of 20 recruits, 15 men and five women. It is the Highway Patrol’s biggest class since 25 recruits graduated in 1974.

A pinning ceremony was held last summer under the rotunda at the South Dakota State Capitol in Pierre.

This is a good group of recruits, who come from many different backgrounds and perspectives,” says Col. Craig Price, superintendent of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Different skill sets and life experiences will make the Patrol stronger and help us to better meet the needs of the public.”
