South Border competed against a strong field and finished fourth over the weekend at the Laker Invitational volleyball tournament in Des Lacs.
 
The Mustangs lost a closely-contested three-set battle to Casselton Central Cass for the third-place trophy. The scores were 25-20, 23-25 and 12-15.
 
Minot Our Redeemer's Christian School edged Langdon for the championship at the two-day tourney, which was held Friday and Saturday. Set scores were not available.
 
In the bracketed portion of the tournament, South Border knocked off previously-undefeated North Star in the first round (13-25, 25-19, 16-14), before falling to Langdon in the semifinals (6-25, 12-25).
