One of the topics of concern at the monthly Ashley City Council on March 12 was the treacherous snow and ice on the south side of Main Street, a chronic hazard for businesses and their customers.

The Council debated a remedy to all of the ice in the gutters and considered the legal risks if someone would fall trying to get into a business. Some elderly people have taken to parking on the sidewalk to avoid the ice and occasional ankle-deep slush. Thrifty White Drug employees have been forced to put out makeshift bridges to accommodate customers.
