Lehr Fire Department personnel were called to a house fire Thursday afternoon.
McIntosh County Sheriff Laurie Spitzer also responded to the blaze at the David Reinhardt residence on 3rd Street in Lehr. There were no injuries.
"Reinhardt was frying bacon on the stove and forgot about the bacon," Spitzer said.
Lehr Fire Chief Lane Bader said about eight firefighters went to the Reinhardt home.
"We were called about three o'clock," Bader said. "We had the fire out in five minutes or less."
Bader said they brought Reinhardt outside and let him get some air.
"We had Dave sit on the steps for a few minutes, just to make sure he was OK," he said.
A small hole was visible on the exterior of the home. Bader added that an interior ceiling sustained smoke damage.
The bacon was a total loss.
