McIntosh County commissioners say they've already had inquiries about lot purchases after demolition work began last week on two dilapidated buildings located on Wishek's main street.
 
The former Herr Mercantile/SuperValu building and the former Jake's Bar building were acquired several years ago by the county for non-payment of back taxes.
 
By week's end, the Herr building was down and workers were clearing rubble and debris from the basement. The former bar structure is next on the list.
 
Commissioners negotiated a deal in 2015 with Carrington-based Pat Biel Trucking for demolition of buildings located on Centennial St. in downtown Wishek.
 
Three county-owned structures had been condemned by city authorities and targeted for removal, because of various health and safety concerns.
 
A storage building, across the street from the others, was demolished late last year.
