The reigning Miss North Dakota recently brought an anti-bullying message to Wishek students.

Lizzie Jensen, 23, of Fargo, inherited the crown when former Miss North Dakota Cara Mund became Miss America.

Jensen has been touring schools across the state since October, including her visit to Wishek in mid-January. She spoke at separate presentations for elementary school and older students.

"How many of you have been bullied, seen others bullied, or maybe even been the bully yourself?" Jensen asked local junior and senior high students during an afternoon session.

Every hand went up.

Jensen, a Stillwater, Minnesota, native, said she was on the receiving end of bullying comments, beginning when she was in second grade.

"My dad was an alcoholic and a drug abuser," Jensen said. "My bully seized on that and used it against me for more than 10 years."
