Incumbents rule primary
Incumbents ruled in the city and primary elections held June 12 across McIntosh County

Results were unofficial, pending formal canvassing of the elections, which was done after this story went to press.

The sheriff's position attracted most of the interest in McIntosh County on Election Day.

Incumbent Laurie Spitzer, appointed in 2006, elected three times, and the longest-serving female sheriff in North Dakota, got 663 votes.

Former sheriff Steve Delzer garnered 187 write-in votes -- more than the 28 required to oppose Spitzer in November.
