Graveside services for Vivian Vina Ebel, 86, Bismarck, ND will be held in the spring at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek. She died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Edgewood Vista on Dominion, Bismarck. Vivian Vina Staebler, daughter of John and Anna (Krein) Staebler, was born Dec. 25, 1931 at Wishek. Vivian moved to Billings, Montana, at the age of 9 years. Vivian was united in marriage to David Ebel on Feb, 8, 1950 at Billings, Montana. They lived in Montana and California, In 1964, they moved to Wishek. In 1980, they moved to Bismarck.

Week of Feb. 14, 2018
The funeral for Anna I. Entzie, 88, Lehr, was held Saturday, Feb, 10, 2018, at Zion United Methodist Church. She died Feb. 3 at Wishek Living Center. Anna Irene (Hauff) Entzie, daughter of John and Bertha (Fregien) Hauff, was born near midnight on a warm Easter Monday, April 1, 1929, on the family farm in Hoffnungsthal Township, McIntosh County. Anna grew up on the family farm, along with three brothers and one sister, on land that was homesteaded by her father’s uncle, Johann Pokert. In her early years, she attended Gnodenfeld Congregational Church with her family It is located 10 miles southeast of Kulm. The land for the church was donated by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fregien.

The funeral for Herbert Wiest, 91, Wishek, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Zeeland. He died Feb. 3 at Wishek Hospital. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, with a devotional service at 7 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will be at St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery, Zeeland. Herbert Otto Wiest, son of Jacob H. and Eva (Wolf) Wiest, was born Nov. 15, 1926, on the family farmstead, rural Zeeland. He grew up and attended rural school in Zeeland ... The funeral for Timothy Lee Gross, 61, Kintyre, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon. He died Jan. 29 at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Timothy Gross, son of Alfred and Wilma (Sperle) Gross, was born Aug. 6, 1956 at Linton. He grew up and attended school at Napoleon, graduating in 1974. Tim attended North Dakota College of Science, Wahpeton. He worked for a year at Wentz Chevrolet and Wentz Equipment in Napoleon. Tim started farming and established a steel building construction company. Tim was united in marriage to Mary Grunefelder on Nov. 28, 1981. They made their home in the Venturia area and, in 1983, they moved to Napoleon. In 1997, they bought a farmstead near Kintyre, where Tim lived up until the time of his death.

A memorial service for Reinhold (Reiny) R. Klein, 93, Wishek, was held Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Faith Community Church, Wishek. He died Jan. 24 at Wishek Living Center. Reinhold R. Klein (Reiny) was born to Jacob and Elizabeth (nee Ackerman) Klein on their farmstead, about 5 miles northwest of Wishek, on May 15, 1924. He was the youngest of eight children, all of whom predeceased him. Reiny graduated in 1941 from Wishek High School and attended North Dakota State University, until World War II interrupted his studies. Reiny married Erna I. Sayler, also of Wishek, in December 1942, before serving during the war in the South Pacific. On his return, he enrolled at Yankton College, where he completed his B. A. and seminary degree from the School of Theology. Reiny graduated in 1941 from Wishek High School and attended North Dakota State University, until World War II interrupted his studies. Reiny married Erna I. Sayler, also of Wishek, in December 1942, before serving during the war in the South Pacific. On his return, he enrolled at Yankton College, where he completed his B. A. and seminary degree from the School of Theology.

The funeral for Rose Heyne, 98, Wishek, was held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. She died Jan. 15 at Wishek Living Center. Rose Meidinger, daughter of Ferdinand and Dorothea (Rudolf) Meidinger, was born Aug. 16, 1919 on the family farm. She grew up on the farm, 8 miles west of Wishek, and attended Salem No.2 rural school. Rose married Ephraim Heyne, son of Jacob and Charlotte (Wacker) Heyne, on Nov. 5, 1939 at St. James' Lutheran Church, rural Wishek. They are the parents of one daughter, Marlyne. They lived and farmed in the Wishek area and were members of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. In 1961, they moved into their home at Wishek.

Graveside services for David Ebel, 90, Bismarck, will be held in the spring at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek. David died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. David Ebel, son of William P. and Pauline (Mack) Ebel, was born Sept. 14, 1927 at Wishek. David grew up and attended school in Wishek ... Memorial services for Lyla P. Johnson, 97, Wishek, will be held the last week of April 2018. Lyla P. Johnson died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Wishek Living Center. Lyla P. Johnson was born June 7, 1920, the oldest of four children of Emil and Mary (Kelle) Pressler. Lyla was 8 years old when her father died. The four children were raised to adulthood in Eureka, South Dakota, by Lyla's single mother, with help from an uncle and aunt who lived next door.

The funeral service for Marvin Lehr, 90, of Ashley, was held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. The Rev. Sharon Korsmo officiated. Private burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Ashley. Marvin died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Ashley Nursing Home. Marvin was born to August and Pauline (Reich) Lehr on Oct. 16, 1927 in Logan County. As a young man, he assisted his father with several building projects. At the age of 16, he built a log cabin in Burnstad, after which he relocated to Bismarck and began a construction career. In 1955, Marvin met Frances Kappes through mutual friends and they were married on Oct. 14, 1956. They built a home together in Ashley, where Marvin continued his work in construction. In 1971, Marvin accepted a position with Harley Miller Construction Co., Bismarck, where he worked as a foreman and estimator. Eventually, he accepted a similar position with Associated Builders, Bismarck, where he worked until his retirement in 1989.

Week of Dec. 20, 2017
The funeral for Dicky Dean Just, 63, Wishek, was held Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. He died Dec. 12 at a Bismarck hospital. Dicky, son of Gayhart and Irene (Sayler) Just, was born Sept. 24, 1954 at Bismarck. He grew up and attended school, graduating from Wishek High School in 1972. After his graduation, Dicky farmed with his father, southwest of Wishek. Dicky married Nancy K. Kaseman on Oct. 4, 1975 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. In October of 1991, they took over the family farm, which Dicky and his sons operated up until the time of his death.
