A graveside service for Jeffrey Joseph Meidinger, 61, Wishek, was held Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Jeffrey abruptly passed from this life on Oct. 3, 2017. Jeffrey, son of Joseph and Melvina(Meidinger) Meidinger, was born in Wishek on Jan. 13, 1956. Jeffrey attended Wishek Public School and graduated from high school in May of 1974. He quickly decided college was not a good fit and entered the workforce, instead. Jeffrey was a machinist in the Portland, Oregon, area for most of his adult life. He moved back to Wishek in 2009. At the time of his death, Jeff was employed by a local rancher.

Virginia Elaine Wishek Anderson, 86, Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Friday, Sept. 8. She was surrounded by family. A funeral service was held Sept. 15 at Hansen Mortuary in Phoenix. Virginia was born Jan. 8, 1931 in Wishek.

Virginia Elaine Wishek Anderson, 86, Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. She was surrounded by family. A funeral service was held Sept. 15 at Hansen Mortuary in Phoenix. Virginia was born Jan. 8, 1931 in Wishek. Virginia graduated from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, with a music and teaching degree. She accepted a position in Kanawha, Iowa, as a music teacher and was married July 3, 1955 to Joseph Anderson. Joe and Virginia moved their family to Phoenix in 1961. Virginia taught music in Avondale for one year. She found much joy teaching Special Education and primary grades in Washington School District for 32 years. Her career of teaching young lives covered a span of 39 years.

Albert Kauk, 96, Streeter, died Friday, Aug, 25, 2017, at Wishek Hospital. Graveside services were held Aug. 30 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Albert was born May 30, 1921 at Lehr, the son of John and Magdalena (Becker) Kauk. He received his elementary education in the local rural school and helped on the family farm ... Delton G. Davis, 92, Bismarck, died Aug. 28, 2017, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services were held Sept. 1 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Dennis Kaiser officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Jamestown. Delton George Davis was born in Beulah, on Jan. 23, 1925. He was raised in Beulah, Golden Valley, and Robinson. Delton was drafted into World War II on June 4, 1943, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1946 ... Elizabeth "Patty" (Hoff) Paul passed away on Aug. 17, 2017, at the age of 77. She died at Yorkshire of Edina, her assisted living home, in Edina, Minnesota. Patty was born on Nov. 12, 1939. Patty loved and cared about her many nieces, nephews, and her many friends.

The funeral for Elmer Bender, 88, Wishek, was held Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Zion United Methodist Church, Lehr. Elmer was blessed with a full life of family and friends and passed away of natural causes Aug. 14, 2017, surrounded by family at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Elmer Clarence Bender, son of Edward and Emma (Hildenbrand) Bender, was born July 6, 1929 at the Bender farm, five miles northeast of Lehr. Elmer married Phyllis Heiser on March 22, 1953 at Wishek. Elmer helped farm and ranch the Bender farm with his family his entire life, up to a couple of weeks before his death.

The funeral for Janel Joy Gaugler, 62, Wishek, was held Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden.Janel, the daughter of Kenneth and Joyce (Kro) Rudel, was born May 17, 1955 at Harvey. She grew up on the family farm. She attended Fessenden High School, where she was active in track. She graduated in 1973. Following college, Janel moved to Wishek to begin her teaching career, which spanned 32 years. She married Dave Gaugler and they raised their two children, Phillip and Linsey.
